ABOUT MYSTERY SHOPPING
The
World's leading companies are looking for shoppers to assess their
businesses. Mystery Shopping is an anonymous way for companies to
gather information about their business. Your valuable input is of the
utmost importance to these companies as they can then use the
information to improve their customer service, training and overall
operation to benefit the customers, the staff and the business as a
whole.
YOUR POSITION:
With
most companies you are not classed as an employee, instead you are an
independent contractor or supplier who goes into the client's locations
unidentified, posing as a shopper, evaluating specific criteria,
completing a questionnaire and leaving feedback, this is then passed on
to the client. There are no standard fees as reimbursement will vary
depending on the complexity of the evaluation. As an independent
contractor, you can always accept or decline an assignment, the choice
is totally yours to make on how much of the available work in your area
you wish to do, so you can do as little or as much as you feel you can
handle at any given time.
IMPORTANT TAX INFORMATION:
The
act of a mystery shop is not a full-time or part-time position, rather
it is more of a ‘private recreational pursuit’. Annual statements of
earnings / group certificates will generally NOT be provided at the end
of the financial year, although there are a few companies who require
you to provide your tax file number and who will issue a group
certificate or statement of earnings at the end of the financial year.
There are also one or two companies who require you to provide an ABN
(Australia Only). In these two instances you will be required to keep
accurate records of your earnings and pay your own regular tax
installments.
INTERNATIONAL MEMBERS:
Please consult your tax authority or advisor in your country for information regarding your specific tax requirements.

reporting is very important to these companies. To insure quality, they
are seeking auditors with the following skills and attributes:
* Ability to make discrete and objective observations without being judgemental.
* Ability to follow instructions and accurately conduct evaluations.
* Ability to meet commitments and deadlines.
* Ability to report the information from the evaluations effectively and efficiently.
* Possess a reliable and responsible attitude
* Are readily contactable by telephone.

HOW TO SIGN UP WITH THESE COMPANIES.
Signing
up is a relatively easy process. Most companies have sign up or
registration areas on their website. Some do not and require you to
send an enquiry via email. Whatever the case may be, to ensure you
receive a reply to your enquiry or a confirmation email containing an
activation link, make sure you add the companies email address to your
safe/white list in your email account.
GETTING STARTED...
When
you have filled out the online registration form and submitted your
details you will generally receive a confirmation email which may
require you to click on an activation link contained in the email. This
will activate your membership with that company and in most cases you
will be able to login to your account immediately where you will be
able to explore the members area and find out what is required before
you can begin looking for and accepting assignments. The majority of
companies require you to undergo some form of online training before
you are eligible to start accepting assignments. The training usually
doesn't take very long to complete and can be very beneficial to you by
giving you an understanding of what is involved in conducting
assessments and also what is required and expected from you as an
auditor/assessor.
